Another Boat Arrives in Australia

Just days after negotiations began in the Federal House regarding the illegal asylum seekers which now seem to be arriving in Australia on a daily basis.

News just broke around thirty minutes ago that yet another boat has been detected in Australian waters by Australian Defence personnel aboard HMAS Bundaberg and it is yet to be confirmed if it is an illegal arrival, but I think we all know that it is.

The boat was initially detected by Australian Customs in the Timor Sea, and it is believed that 41 people are aboard this boat. It almost seems as though these people smugglers are getting in for their chop before Australian Governments vote on new policies regarding refugees.

On Wednesday in Canberra in the house of representatives our politicians argued most of the afternoon and into the night trying to come to an agreement on how to deal with the illegal arrivals and the many boats that have come to this country since the Labour government have been in power. After much negotiation an agreement was reached and the bill was sent to the Senate for their consideration and vote. To which they argued and debated all through the night and into the next day, it was inevitable the members of the Green party would never vote for this bill, so all in all it was a futile exercise. Late Thursday it was announced that the Senate voted against the bill, much to the public's frustration.

So where do we go from here? Are Australian people going to have to put up with this nonsense until September 2013, which is when our next election is. Or are this useless government that are running the country now going to step up and take control. The problem here is our Prime Minister; Julia Gillard feels that she needs to keep the members of the Green party on side (who hold seats in our upper and lower house). She is so wrong. If she acted, and ordered our Naval personnel to turn these boats around she would have most of the country behind her. She just needs to act.

How does Ms Gillard expect to win the election next year? Recent polling has indicated that about 30 percent of Australia's population prefer her as Prime Minister; even the Hon Kevin Rudd, our former Prime Minister is more popular at the moment and he stuffed up the refugee policy in the first place. The leader of opposition, the Hon Tony Abbott is gaining quite a following and is most likely going to lead this country for the next 3-4 years after the election in September 2013. He has promised to dismantle the ridiculous carbon tax that is about to happen on Sunday, July 1, 2012 and he has already voiced his views on asylum seekers and most people I talk and listen to want his policies to be made law in this country.

What magical rabbit is this woman going to pull out of her hat to fix her popularity in this country? I can't see anything that she can do at the moment; unless she decides to grow some balls and stand up to these idiot Green's whom are crippling this country and do what most Australians want her to do and fix this mess! Come on Julia, stop hiding behind your pride, forget what the Green's party are saying to you and harden the hell up. Listen to the voters, consider their views - and when your time is up next year at least some of us will remember that you did try.

I guess that time will tell what Ms Gillard will do, it's just that we are so sick of waiting.
